At Houston Makeup Artistry we give strongest attention to detail. To ensure a great makeup application takes much more than just proper techniques. We listen to our clients, and care about their comfort. It's not about us....it's about YOU! We are here to give you more than a service...it's an experience. We customize a look for each client that will look radiant. We take into consideration our clients face & eye shape, hair and eye color, skin type, and their personal comfort zone! No detail goes unnoticed at Houston Makeup Artistry!

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

Providing makeup is hard work, but it's also a work of art. The absolute best feeling I get is seeing my client's eyes light up, and the biggest smile come to their face in admiration of their own beauty. Each person has unique features, and I find it a privilege to enhance them all with the art of makeup. It's especially heartwarming to see them appreciate it, too. That alone takes makeup from my job to my passion.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My standard pricing is listed on my website, however, I am able to offer better deals for groups. That is why I always recommend asking for a quote if more than one person will be receiving services!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I do a lot of listening. It's my job to customize a service for each person who hires me. My professional opinion does matter, but I can't give that opinion unless I've done a lot of listening First!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm certified through celebrity MUA Angie G. Ford's Hollywood Expressions Makeup Academy (HEX), I also interned under her for a year, and I am certified through Dinair Airbrush Company to apply & teach the art of Airbrush. I'm also a makeup YouTube and magazine junkie! I will never stop learning!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I've always loved art, but never wore makeup for the longest time. It wasn't until I found myself very sick - unfortunately, in the hospital- and wasn't able to do much of anything except watch TV. The Style channel became my obsession, and I vowed when I became well to play in makeup. That is when I discovered a love I didn't know I had! One thing led to another and now makeup is my Full-time gig!

What types of customers have you worked with?

I've worked with all types of people and events, skin tones, nationalities, and I have love for every single one! My clients are there for their Proms, Quinceaneras, Weddings, Model Shoots, and Pageants. I get the chance to meet and work with phenomenal people all the time!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

The Miss Houston Latina Pageant in 2014...it was my very first pageant to be on-site of, and saw behind the scenes filming, etc. I was part of an incredible MUA team that provided services to these girls for several weeks. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but what I saw was an incredible group of young women rooting for each other. Along with genuine kindness being showed to each and every person. Those girls were beautiful on the outside, but their truest beauty was on the inside. They each hold a special place in my heart!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Cheap isn't always good! Don't pick your MUA based on price alone. Sure, you want a competitive price, but a professional MUA should have a working website, work with contracts, and be able to provide you with pictures of their work. Always check their reviews or ask for references. Doing your research, asking questions, and getting to know your MUA is the best way to determine if you will be satisfied with their services before your special occasion.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Makeup & Hair isn't simple to a detailed professional, so we will have several follow-up questions. We do this so we can provide you with the best possible service, so embrace it! Look at pictures, Pinterest some makeup and hairstyles you like, be honest with us when describing what you like and don't like. That will help inspire our custom look for you.
